Coaching to Improve Leadership Style and Flexibility
Case Study
The Problem
Sarah*, a team manager, was struggling to improve her team’s performance. Her style was directive, with a strong focus on pace-setting.
However, it was causing widespread frustration and anger. Her boss worried team performance was dropping and valuable members might leave.
How My Coaching Helped
I coached Sarah to improve her self-awareness. We focussed on how her actions and behaviour impacted her team. Together we developed a new collaborative management style which softened her approach.
Sarah was impressive at the speed at which she evolved her management style. She worked hard trying different approaches. She became open with her team and regularly asked for feedback.
Her anger and frustration quickly dropped, and the team responded positively.
The Result
The team became more motivated and engaged. Performance improved.
She went from strength to strength – and was promoted within 6 months.
