The Problem

James* (a manager) was very angry with a Ken* team member. James complained Ken was making life difficult for him and not delivering the assigned work. James was focused on how to punish Ken.

How My Coaching Helped

I explored with James the impact of his anger on Ken. This led to a discussion of his behaviour on Ken’s behaviour.

James realised he was part of the problem. With his new self-awareness, he stopped being angry and became more supportive.

The Result

Ken improved his behaviour and work quality, and their relationship improved.

Within a few months, James praised Ken and supported his development. In return, Ken became a vital contributor to the success of James’ team.
